Andre Hueniken Profile
Legal and Mediation Experience
Andre was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987. He has worked as a litigation lawyer with two local Guelph firms and has run his own mediation business. As the designated panel mediator for a local Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) and in his own mediation practice, he has successfully conducted over 100 mediations. Andre has skillfully represented clients in various levels of court in Ontario.
Education
Andre received his law degree (LL.B.) from the University of Western Ontario in 1985, graduating on the Dean’s Honour List (final year standing 6th of 140 students). He was awarded the prize for the highest standing in Real Estate Law.
Andre’s continuing professional development has focussed on mediation. He has completed courses through the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program at the Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. These courses include Advanced Mediation and Negotiation, Advanced Family Mediation, Dispute Analysis and Process Design, and Conducting the Commercial Mediation. Andre recently completed Collaborative Family Law training.
Community Involvement
Andre has many years of volunteer board experience as a treasurer, fundraiser, and facilitator. He has been a board member of various local organizations including the Hillside Festival, the Guelph Spring Festival, and the Guelph Youth Music Centre. Andre was the fundraising chair for the local Green Party candidate in the past four federal and provincial elections. At present he is a board member of the Wellington Water Watchers, and a board member and treasurer for FarmStart, a non profit organization based at Ignatius College.
General
Andre was born and raised in Guelph. He lives in Guelph with his wife, Jane Hudson. Most recently Andre was V.P. Marketing and Customer Support at Compusense Inc., a local software company with an international reach and many multi-national food production clients. Andre’s passion is international travel. He has visited every continent except Antarctica.
